Who really is the Christ?
1. What does the word Christ mean??
2. Who is the real Christ?
3. Where did He come from?
4. What is his part in God's will for mankind?
5. Is he sent for everyone?
What Does "Christ" Mean?
"Christ" is derived from the Greek word Christós, and the Hebrew word Māšîaḥ (Messiah) which all means anointed.
Anointed on the other hand refers to being chosen by God. In ancient Israel, being chosen by God to be the nation's King, one must be "anointed" (literally meaning poured with) holy anointing olive oil used by the high priest.
Thus being anointed that way, shows the physical proof that someone has been chosen by God to be Israel's King.
Today, many people use this word as a title to "Jesus" calling Him "Jesus Christ" or meaning Jesus the chosen one to be the King of Israel.
Who is the real Christ
Just who is Jesus? Why do many people say that He is the Christ?
First, let me clarify that the person commonly known as Jesus Christ is really Yeshua HaMasiah, since Hebrews does not have the letter J, or simply Yeshua the Messiah.
Among many historical figures that claimed to be the Christ, only Yeshua stands out among them for many reasons.
Among these reasons are:
1. Fulfilled prophecies
2. God's own Words -
While he was still speaking, a bright cloud covered them, and a voice from the cloud said, "This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased. Listen to him!" - Matthew 17:5
And a voice came from heaven: "You are my Son, whom I love; with you I am well pleased." - Mark 1:11
Then a cloud appeared and covered them, and a voice came from the cloud: "This is my Son, whom I love. Listen to him!" - Mark 9:7
And a voice from heaven said, "This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased." - Matthew 3:17
3. His life
And Jesus grew in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man. - Luke 5:52
4. His Teachings
From that time on Jesus began to preach, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven has come near.” - Matthew 4:17
“Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. For truly I tell you, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished. Therefore anyone who sets aside one of the least of these commands and teaches others accordingly will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever practices and teaches these commands will be called great in the kingdom of heaven. For I tell you that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the Pharisees and the teachers of the law, you will certainly not enter the kingdom of heaven. - Matthew 5:17-20
"Why do you ask me about what is good?" Jesus replied. "There is only One who is good. If you want to enter life, keep the commandments." - Matthew 19:17
“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’ Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’ - Matthew 7:21-23
The above teaching makes Christ stand out because He is the only one who insists that man must obey God.
5. His Death
6. His Ressurrection
There are many more reasons that can be cited to prove that Yeshua is the Messiah but the above should prove enough. No one else among the many claimants in Israel's history have these proofs to back their words. Only Yeshua.
Where Did He Come From?
As a man, Christ was born by a virgin birth of Mary.
18 This was how the birth of Jesus Christ took place. His mother Mary was engaged to Joseph, but before they were married, she found out that she was going to have a baby by the Holy Spirit. ...20 While he was thinking about this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, "Joseph, descendant of David, do not be afraid to take Mary to be your wife. For it is by the Holy Spirit that she has conceived. ... 23 "A virgin will become pregnant and have a son, and he will be called Immanuel" (which means, "God is with us") - Matthew 1:18,20,23
God, who can make man out of soil (Genesis 2:7) has also the power to make a man inside a living woman. Therefore, Christ did not inherit any sin. Is the person that was born as Christ a new creation? No. Christ said He was "sent".
He answered, "I was sent only to the lost sheep of Israel."- Matthew 15:24
But he said, "I must preach the good news of the kingdom of God to the other towns also, because that is why I was sent." - Luke 4:43
According to Merriam-Webster dictionary, "sent" means:
1. to cause to go, intransitive verb 1a : to dispatch someone to convey a message or do an errand
Basically meaning Christ came from another place.
Where?
Christ said:
But he continued, "You are from below; I am from above. You are of this world; I am not of this world. - John 8:23
For I have come down from heaven not to do my will but to do the will of him who sent me.- John 6:38
It means that Christ has been living in heaven before He was sent to earth.
Was He the God the Almighty before He came down from heaven? No. He was not. Did Christ say that it was His will? No. It was someone else's will that Christ went here on earth, Christ was sent, commanded, dispatched. The one who willed that Christ be sent on earth was the Almighty God. Christ obeyed that will. (John 6:38) Why?
Jesus said, "Do not hold on to me, for I have not yet returned to the Father. Go instead to my brothers and tell them, 'I am returning to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.' " - John 20:17
We can treat Christ as a god, call him a god, worship Him as God, but we have to remember that YHWH commanded to only worship Him. And that Christ told His followers to worship only His Father and His God. YHWH.
Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshippers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshippers the Father seeks. - John 4:23
Did Christ has a beginning? We can answer that with what the word of God contains.
In Proverbs 8 "Wisdom" said the following:
22 "The LORD brought me forth as the first of his works, before his deeds of old; 23 I was appointed from eternity, from the beginning, before the world began. 24 When there were no oceans, I was given birth, when there were no springs abounding with water; 25 before the mountains were settled in place, before the hills, I was given birth - Proverbs 8:22-25
And he swore by him who lives for ever and ever, who created the heavens and all that is in them, the earth and all that is in it, and the sea and all that is in it, and said, "There will be no more delay! - Revelations 10:6
It means that "Wisdom" was the first creation of God. Because God created everything in heaven and Christ came from heaven. So it follows that Christ was created too.
Even Paul who lies about many things recognized this fact.
Christ the Wisdom and Power of God For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. - 1 Corinthians 1:18 NIV
but to those whom God has called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. - 1 Corinthians 1:24
Yes! Christ is the Wisdom of God and was the very first one created in heaven.
What will Christ do for God's will?
Christ is the equivalent of the lamb in Israel's passover in Egypt, He was chosen, kept for a period and tested for any blemish and found perfect through obedience and was killed at the exact day the passover lamb should be killed.
The "family" of Jews should assimilate Him, should use His blood to mark their "home" as a believer in God's Word so that the angel of destruction will pass over them and so save them from the punishment of God to the unbelievers and disobedients.
Christ is the lamb of God in that Nisan 14. When the covenant people will partake of His flesh and blood to be saved by God's will. And those who will want to be included should obey God's commandments.
See: Exodus 12:43-51

Does this mean that Christ was sent only for the Jews?
Let Christ answer that question for us.
He answered, "I was sent only to the lost sheep of Israel." - Matthew 15.24
Christ was definitely sent for the salvation of the Jews alone, The people of God's covenant.
With this information we can now understand many of the things that happened in Christ's life, we can now appreciate many of His words and things He did while He was on earth.
Have you wondered why, while there were so many people in the world at that time, He commanded only His apostles to do this? :
These twelve Jesus sent out with the following instructions: “Do not go among the Gentiles or enter any town of the Samaritans. Go rather to the lost sheep of Israel. As you go, proclaim this message: ‘The kingdom of heaven has come near.’ - Matthew 10:5-7
Christ and His apostles were all working for the same end. The salvation of Israel.
It all make sense now.
1. God made a covenant long ago only to Israel.
2. God gave the commandments only to Israel.
3. God promised the Messiah to Israel.
4. Christ came only for Israel.
5. Apostles should only evangelize to Israel.
6. Christ is the King of the Jews!
7. And in Revelations 7:1-8 the Kings and Priests were all from Israel! (also Revelations 14:1)
We can therefore understand that indeed Christ is the Savior of Israel and no other nation on earth.
How will this fact affect you? Are you disheartened to know this? Are you glad you now know the truth about Christ?
Indeed this truth can incite different reactions from many people. many will even try to refute the above, but I am sorry, it is the truth. God only intend to save Israel and no other nation. So much like the day of Israel's exodus from Egypt of long ago.
Does this mean that people of other race and nationalities have no chance of being saved from God's coming judgement of the world? Not really.
People of other nations can also be saved, not just in the way that many ministers and preachers are saying. Knowing the truth opens the real way to be put right in the sight of God.
The key to understanding how other nations aside from Israel can be saved can be gleaned on God's Words to Moses in Exodus 12:43-51. Yes, if we want to be a part of God's promises, we have to enter into God's covenant. We have to obey the requirements of the covenant which is composed of God's Law. Thereafter, the people of any race, nations, language and tribe will be saved and blessed through Israel.
This is the teaching of Christ, that once we understand we have to repent, be sad of what we have done so far with regards to what YHWH is asking in His written covenant. Turn around and decide to follow the commandments wholeheartedly. In this way, we enter the covenant and we will be eligible to receive what God has promised. There is no other way but to really believe Christ. "If you want to enter life, obey the commandments" - Matthew 19:17
Need more proof that Christ is not YHWH? We will talk about that here.
